What is PMP(Project Management Professional) certification?

The Project Management Professional certification, known as PMP, is created by Project Management Institute(PMI).

This certificate is the mostly recognized amongst currently available project certification in the market. It is on high demand across the globe. According to the latest numbers PMI, there 900.000+ PMP certified project managers worldwide.

How you can be certified?

First of all, you have to have certain prerequisite in areas of professional project experience and project trainings. PMI defined two guidelines.

Candidates who apply should have:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent university degree.

35 contact hours of project management training.

Project experience of 4.500 hours(minimum) within the five major process groups.

High school graduate diploma or equivalent secondary school credentials.

35 contact hours of project management training.

Project experience of 7.500 hours(minimum) within the five major process groups.

Applying for the exam:

Details of how to apply exam online is available through the PMI website(www.pmi.org). Also, the most useful document is the PMP handbook which is available for download in PDF format.

To access, visit the website and click on “Certification” menu link, then navigate to “Certification types” and click on “Project Management Professional(PMP).

On the right hand side, you will find “PMP Application Guidance”. Once you have all details to apply online, on the PMP page find “Ready to Apply” blue button.
